Beacon Hill is renowned for being one of the most expensive districts in the state of Massachusetts. It was named after the location of a former beacon, which sat atop the highest point in central Boston. Although this landmark was originally built for warning residents of invasion, today it serves as an archival piece of history.
Beacon Hill is lined with brick rowhouses and is well known for its narrow, gas lit streets and gorgeous brick sidewalks. Quaint Charles Street runs through the flat of the hill and is filled with mom and pop owned restaurants, shops and cafes. The location is flanked by the Boston Common and the Esplanade on the Charles River where recreational activity is at your fingertips.
