Jamaica Plain Real Estate

Jamaica Plain is a 4.4 square mile neighborhood of Boston that is home to a significant part of the Emerald Necklace parks. One of the most sought after parks is the Arnold Arboretum in “JP,” a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors or enjoy a picnic.

Once it was officially part of Boston in late 1800’s growth began to transpire in JP. With that growth was the introduction of triple decker homes that began to line the streets. The Stony Brook valley was once the center of much industry for the area. In fact, breweries used the Stony Brook aquifer and a once large German population in the area. Today much of the value of the brook is only but a distant memory and we are reminded of it by the naming of a T stop – Stony Brook Station. The new major artery in Jamaica Plain is Center Street. This street runs through the diverse neighborhood offering numerous family owned businesses from shops to restaurants and bars.
